Exploring Denham Springs

Denham Springs is well known for its antique district and being a few minute’s drive from Baton Rouge. A Louisiana city with a lot of history and culture, the city was initially named “Amite Springs” after the nearby Amite River. After a land purchase by William Denham in the 1800s, the city was renamed.

Getting There

Denham Springs is located in Livingston Parish, just before or after Baton Rouge, depending on your direction of travel on Interstate 12. Being close to a larger city means getting there is relatively easy. Residents and visitors can enjoy the conveniences and attractions of each city with no need for extensive travel planning.

Things to Do

Explore the Antique Village – The Antique Village is the heart of the city’s downtown area, where seasonal festivals are held. Many, if not all, of the buildings in this area have been restored and are now where you will find antique shops, boutiques, and art galleries. The downtown area is a good spot to explore as you enjoy a casual stroll or a day of treasure hunting.

Four Seasons Farmers Market – Open year-round, this farmers market offers fresh produce, handmade crafts, and local goods. It’s a great place to experience the local flavor and support small businesses. Depending on the time of year and the vendors present, you can find jambalaya, boudin, coffees, baked goods, jewelry, artisan goods, honey, gourmet dog treats, and much more.

Visit the Old City Hall – Now a museum and cultural center, the Old City Hall is where you can learn about local history, enjoy art exhibitions, and attend community events.

Where to Eat

P’Beaus – This is the spot to sample and enjoy your next favorite dish with lunch and dinner menu items that include Shrimp Corn Dogs, Boudin Queso, BBQ Shrimp Pasta, and Gumbo.

Randazzo’s Italian Market – A local favorite for authentic Italian cuisine, Randazzo’s offers a cozy atmosphere, delicious pasta dishes, and take-and-bake selections that quickly answer the age-old questions of what’s for dinner.

Shopping

Denham Springs offers a mix of local boutiques and larger retail stores. The Antique Village is the primary shopping destination for unique finds. At the same time, the nearby area of Juban Crossing provides a more modern shopping experience with national retailers.
