The king cake martini is a Perfect Mardi Gras Cocktail for Your Celebration

As you know, Mardi Gras is a time for celebration, and what better way to join the fun than with a King Cake Martini?!? Inspired by Louisiana’s King Cake, this cocktail has a delicious blend of creamy liqueurs, cinnamon, and vanilla. Add this cocktail to your must-try list and see how you do at capturing the essence of a King Cake in a glass.

A fun drink to serve with family and friends, a King Cake Martini is easy to adjust to make the perfect blend just for you by adding a little more or less simple sugar, cinnamon, and lemon.

King cake martini Ingredients:

  • Vanilla Vodka – Your favorite brand is the one to use!
  • Amaretto Liqueur – For that sweet, nutty flavor.
  • Simple Cinnamon Syrup â€“ Add a pinch of cinnamon to your simple syrup for a dash of sweetness.
  • Lemon Juice – Gives the drink a citrus twist.
  • Purple, Green, and Gold Sugar – For rimming the glass.
  • Ice – For the shaker.

How We Mixed It Up:

  • We started by rimming our margarita glass using a lemon wedge; you could use simple syrup or water for this too. Then, we dipped the rim of a margarita glass into the colored sugars. (The margarita glass was handy, and there were no martini glasses in sight.)
  • We grabbed a cocktail shaker, filled it with ice, and added a shot (about an ounce) of vanilla vodka and amaretto. Next, we added a dash of lemon juice and finished it with a shot of simple syrup.
  • Then, the lid was put on the shaker, and the shaker was shook.
  • The last step was straining the cocktail into a margarita glass.

Please note: We are not professional Mixologists but mixing things up like this worked for us. Another approach may be better for you.

Good to Know
  • A martini is usually served in a martini glass. The margarita glass we used did the trick and probably held more than a martini glass would have.
  • There are several brands of vodka and amaretto. If you do not have a favorite, select a smaller-sized bottle to explore your options.
  • About those Lemons… remember, a little bit goes a long way.
  • Mardi Gras-themed stir sticks – if there is such a thing – would be a fun little addition.
Overall Impressions

Tasty and Easy to Make: King Cake Martinis are a great drink to enjoy and share, especially during Mardi Gras season. You do not need a lot of ingredients, and you can make one or a few to enjoy on your own or while you spend time with family and friends.

Cheers to you from the Louisiana Ladies!
